Internal Medicine Management
Small animal internal medicine encompasses a range of diseases—both acute and chronic—involving, but not limited to, the respiratory, renal, hepatic, gastrointestinal, neurologic, cardiac, endocrine, and immune systems. Some of the more common disorders we see include gastrointestinal disease, chronic and acute renal failure, protein-losing disorders, immune-mediated diseases, heart disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, Addison’s disease and Cushing’s disease. These diseases can often be diagnosed and managed in general practice, but in some instances may require referral to an internal medicine specialist. Additionally we work with local specialists who provide on-site services that are integral to internal medicine at our clinic; these include radiology/ultrasound services and cardiology services. For radiology and ultrasound we work with Pacific Veterinary Imaging and for our cardiology services we work with Olympic Veterinary Cardiology.
