  • Jennifer Koenig, DVM

    Veterinarian, Partner

I grew up on a farm in rural Wisconsin. My family owned and raised dairy cows, dogs, cats, horses, goats, and sheep. I spent my childhood days gallivanting about on my horse for hours on end and caring for all of the other critters in the barn. Needless to say, my family and friends were not surprised when I pursued a career in veterinary medicine.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and then continued on my collegiate path at Iowa State University, earning a degree in 2006 from The College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon earning my DVM, I completed an equine internship in Scottsdale, Arizona. Soon after, I relocated to the Snohomish area where I continued to practice equine medicine for an additional year before making the decision to change my focus to dogs and cats. As a veterinarian, I enjoy the diversity of general practice with a particular interest in preventive care, dermatology and chronic disease management. I joined Snohomish Station Animal Hospital in January of 2015 and have loved every minute of it!

In my free time I enjoy snuggling with my two dogs, Booker (Boxer mix) and Monkey (American Staffordshire Terrier), hiking, photography and horseback riding.

I look forward to meeting you and caring for your furry family members for years to come!

  • James Boutette, DVM

    Veterinarian

Dr. James Boutette, originally from Ontario, Canada, moved to the United States in 1993 to start an undergraduate program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  He graduated in 2002 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and went on to pursue both an internship at the Ontario Veterinary college in Guelph Ontario Canada, and residency program at the University of Pennsylvania, both concentrating on avian and exotic species.  His interest in wildlife medicine developed during veterinary school, and he worked during the summers for the American Eagle Foundation, caring for and training many raptor species as well as participating in their educational programs.  He even developed an interest in aquatic animal medicine and attended an intensive summer course called Aqua Vet at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Ma.  An internship at the University of Guelph/Ontario Veterinary College included direct supervision of the hospital's wild bird clinic.  He was also very active in both national and international organized student medicine association under the Student American Veterinary Medicine Association.

Dr. Boutette joins Snohomish Station Animal Hospital after working more than ten years in a primarily exotic animal hospital in South New Jersey where he treated dogs and cats.  While living on the east coast, Dr. Boutette also donated his time and expertise to local organizations needing veterinary care for resident animals and rescues alike and looks forward to doing the same in Washington. He sat on the board of directors for the Freedom Center for Wildlife and served as primary veterinarian for two other wildlife rehabilitation and education centers in the South Jersey and greater Philadelphia area.  Dr. Boutette was also involved with the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of various other veterinary associations including the Association of Avian Veterinarians and the American Association  of Zoo and Aquarium Veterinarians.  He has succeeded in publishing academic papers and served as speaker at veterinary continuing education conferences.

In his personal life Dr. Boutette enjoys travel and spending time with his family hiking, boating and regular adventures with his 4yr old border collie/husky/lab mix named Nokie who can usually be found by his side.  He has a variety of more exotic pets and is an avid aquarist and naturalist.

  • Rebecca Schuermeyer, DVM

    Veterinarian

Hello! I am Dr. Becky Schuermeyer and I am thrilled to be joining the Snohomish Station Animal Hospital Team.

I grew up in the amazing Pacific Northwest and am excited to be coming home. I completed my undergraduate degree at Western Washington University and recently graduated from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I enjoy being able to help grow the human-animal bond between furry family members and their people. My current interests are preventative medicine, behavior, nutrition and dermatology, but I do truly love all aspects of general veterinary medicine.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family, my fiancé Brandon and our adorable and sassy one-eyed cat Caly. Outdoor family activities, baseball and dance classes are some of my favorite hobbies not related to veterinary medicine.

I cannot wait to meet you and your furry family members and hope to be providing them with a lifetime of care.

    Alena

    Hospital Manager

Hello, my name is Alena and I am the Hospital Manager here at Snohomish Station Animal Hospital. I have been with the hospital since we opened in May of 2012 and really enjoy working with our furry patients and their human parents. I come from an extensive background in customer service, making the move from human medicine to veterinary medicine four and a half years ago. Being an avid animal lover, my favorite part of the job is watching all of the puppies and kittens grow from bumbling babies to adorable adults. I am focused on educating pet parents on the needs of the animals in their care, and I'm always willing to listen and answer questions. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband Eric and our four fur babies: Reagan & Buckley (domestic shorthair cats), Caspian (Ragdoll), and Koda (Pomeranian/Corgi mix), who keep our lives happy and entertaining.
